The Barle is the largest river in the region even though it is the Exe that gives its name to Exmoor. The Barle rises in The Chains and eventually joins the Exe below Dulverton on Exmoor's southern boundary.
fishing on the River Barle is for salmon,
brown trout and grayling through the closed trout season. Sea trout
are steadily on the increase offering some excellent sport in future
seasons at night. The waters are mainly fly with spinning allowed for
salmon when river conditions are high and coloured.
